Alternatives for Bankroll Management

So if you, like me, have learned that your not so good at this analytical over calculated bankroll management strategies, but you still don’t want to destroy your stake, then it’s time to find a strategy that works for you.

Your own personal bankroll strategy should be a function of two things, the games you like to play and your personality. If you are playing mostly in a home game and have a steady job the easiest way to control your bankroll is simply to only bring the same amount of money every week. Since, poker is not your primary source you can afford to bring an appropriate amount to the table every time. Since, you never increase that amount and you never bring more than your standard amount to the table you should wind up winning in the long run if you’re a winning player.

If you’re an online player and don’t have enough patience to save your bankroll the best advise I can give you is cashout often. Many, many online players would be winners if they just cashed out every now and then. Instead they hit a big winning streak and inevitably play a game that’s over there bankroll and lose what they’ve won in one or two hands. Do yourself a favor avoid the trap and get your profit out. One cashout strategy I like is if I double up I take out half the profit. So if I start at 50 and make it to 100 I cashout 25. I am really a good example of why this works I can get on some really extreme tilts online and I would not be a winning player if I wasn’t cashing out regularly. The second most important trick to protect your bankroll is taking a long break if you get on a losing streak. If you were using a more conservative strategy you could play through the slump but if you don’t have the discipline just take a break.
